Fresh Water Lobster
Another name for the Fresh Water Lobster is a Yabby. Josh C caught it in a stream on a friends farm on Sunday. He caught it by getting a stick and tied a piece of string onto the end of it. On the end of the string he tied a big piece of chicken because he didn't have any weights. He gently lowered the meat on the string into the water. The yabby grabbed the chicken and that is when you gently pull it out of the water. He then put it into a pottle with water. See the Yabby below.

Graffiti in the Library
Graffiti in the Library.
Rachael’s phone went dong, ding, dang! A voice asked,
“Hello is this Rachael”
“Yes it is I the Super Smart Spy!”
“Ohh good! Can you come to the primary school library soon as possible,” the voice asked.
“I will definity be there in three minutes. Bye for now,” said Rachael.
Three minutes later Rachael was at the school library door. It flung open and Mr O’Sharrle said, “Look there’s paint on the walls and PVA on the carpet! I don’t know what happened or who did it but it happened last night.” said Mr O’Sharrle.
Rachael looked all day she peered and peeked she snuck and sneaked but she didn’t find a spec of dust anywhere or any clues to solve the mystery.
Mr S’Sharrle helped her but no clues. He left to find some papers and Racheal to find anything in or on the last shelf.
She was peering and peeking, seaching and scouring when suddenly some one grabbed Rachael from behind and stuck a gag on her mouth to stop her scream. To her horror they then stuffed her in a sack. Help she thought.
Just Mr O’Sharrle returned to see an evil person stuffing Racheal in a sack. He reached for the heaviest book he could and struck the evil one on the head making a loud thump noise. Racheal heard the noise and was frightened. Next thing she knew the sack was being opened and she saw Mr O’Sarrle and an evil one on the floor unconscious.
Mr O’Sarrle quickly took the gag off Racheal and she said, “Thank you now lets check the evil on and I suspect he was the one who did the crime.”
Racheal picked up the evil ones hand and sure enough his hands were covered in paint and PVA glue. “We have our culprit. Ring the police Mr O’Sarrle!” Written by Nicola
Our Detective Stories
My Milly the Detective
Ring Ring! Detective Milly picked up her phone, “ Hello Detective Milly here.”
“Hi Milly, no time to talk! I need you at the Dunedin bank,” said her boss.
“Sure I’ll come as fast as lightning,” replied Milly
“See you soon” replied her boss.
Detective Milly ran as fast as a cheater to the Dunedin City Bank.
When she got there, there was a huge mess on the grey carpet.
“Thank goodness you’re here .We had a robbery over night.” said the anxious bank manager. “I am sure you have noticed the horrible mess.” he said with a worried look on his face.
“I will get straight to work..” said Detective Milly confidently. “Wait I am not done. We found some pale pink clothing attached to the nail over there. Look!”
Detective Milly got straight to work. She soon found a finger print on the dusty desk. She got out her gadget and analyzed it. It only took two minutes before She found out the fingerprint belonged to Zac her mums cousin.
Zac is not usually a criminal and she was so surprised. Out came the proud bank manager to thank her very much for all her hard work. He and his team could then tidy the bank up.
Detective Milly rang her boss and he sent the police to capture Zac. Police pulled up at his last know address and arrested him after a short gun battle. Once arrested and tried Zac got sent to jail for twenty years..That was the end of that crime . For now... Written by Emma

Our Character Descriptions
Today we drew our own scarecrow and wrote a description of if to give a reader a picture of it in their head.
My scarecrow stands tall on the stake in the middle of the pumpkin patch. He's got hay in his clothes to make his body round. He's wearing a black hoodie. He's got an old brown hat that's ruined from the rain and sun. He's got blue suit pants that have hold in the legs. His green hat sit tightly on his head. The wind hasn't blown it off. He's got bird poo on his hat because this scare crow isn't scarey! Written by Sean.
The scarecrow stared vacantly over the silent field like a statue, keeping the birds at bay. Then one of the birds swept in beside him and the wing fluttering generated wind causing the hay to flutter. Thinking that the arm was moving the bird flew away like a rocket. The scarecrow had superior bright red zigzag overalls. One of the straps was dangling like the tail of a lion. His bandana was pitch black like midnight and his hat was a startling lime green. By Ollie
There standing in the enormous vegetable field is a big freaky scarecrow reaching out wide to warn the black pesky flapping birds. It is like he is saying to get out and not to mess with this scarecrow. His creepy face staring wildly scared all the greedy birds away. The scarecrow is as tall as an oversized giraffe. He’s reaching as wide as an eagle’s long flapping wings. His hay filled arms and legs are as skinny as a pin. His big long pants are stained with raspberry jam and his shirt is ripped and cut. His hat is weaved with old straw. He is tilting slightly to the left and the birds suddenly disappeared. By Emma
A long time ago a scarecrow was standing frozen staring out along a small field of barley with her dark broken bits of wine bottle eyes stiffly jammed into her old potato sack head. The old black woolsack had the word POTATO printed on it in gigantic bold letters, right smack dab where the mouth would be. For when she was made nothing was put over the word potato so forever her mouth has been shut. An inch above the mouth there was a chunk of coal for a nose. And the hat was an old graduation hat from when the farmer graduated college. His top was an old very crinkled wheat sack, so crinkled you could barely read the word wheat printed on the front. Her legs out flour sacks covered in flups of four from spillages when filled with flour and the shoes were gigantic old clown shoes from a prize at a fun fair. As for the hand old wedding gloves from the farmers wedding they were pearl pink and stuffed with hay. By Nicola

The Gruffalo with Room 4
Wow! Room 11 and Room 4 just watched an amazing film call "The Gruffalo's Child. The Gruffalo's child sound like a scary and frightening story but it's actually a very nice story about a young and imaginative Gruffalo running away from his stone home in search of the big bad mouse. Room 11 and 4 had found out that the big bad mouse is actually the shadow of a little mouse who tricked the young Gruffalo so he wouldn't be eaten. You know what a Gruffalo likes most... Mouse meat curry. Yum! Well not really y-u-m only a Gruffalo would say that! By Tara
Room 4 buddy activity
Today Room 11 went down to Room 4 to make the Gruffalo's child. Firstly we had to buddy up with our partners. Secondly we got a piece of paper that had the Gruffalo's child on in pieces. Thirdly we got crayons and coloured it in. Fourthly we cut it out very carefully. Next the class glued the arms and legs to the body. Lastly we glued fur all over the body. the reason we did this is because it's going in the library. By Ollie
Finally we got to see our buddy class again. We worked with them to create our own Gruffalo's child. Firstly my partner and I coloured our Gruffalo in brown . Secondly we glued small bits of wool on our Gruffalo. Thirdly we stuck our gruffalo together. Lastly we glued small purple bits of fabric onto our Gruffalo's back then we showed it to Miss Pelvin, our buddy rooms teacher. By Nicola

The Day of the School Flood!!
After my friend and I finished our lunch, we started playing until a gnormous dark, black cloud came. It started to rain and there was loud, terrifying thunder and lightning.
It was striking the school. Everyone ran inside. The water was going under the doors and through the roof. Suddenly the power died. Then “BANG” the heating went off. I looked up at the ceiling. A drop of water fell right on my forehead. I looked down on the carpet. It was all soggy so I ran outside and all I could see was black!!! I ran as fast as I could to the principals office. Mr Newton said “I’ll ring your parents, It’s unsafe to stay at school”. Oh No - there’s no signal. We had to go up on the balcony and get the signal back. The parents could see the storm from their houses so they rushed to school. When they eventually got there I felt saved! When I got home I had a cup of tea and sat next to a warm fire.
Well – that was a great adventurous day for me at school.

The day of the School Flood
All of St Clair School had just finished their delicious lunches. The children were all playing, some on the bars, some playing rugby and also soccer. Then suddenly the clouds went black. It started to pour. We had to go inside. When we got inside the water was coming under the doors and leaking through the roof. Suddenly “Ping” the lights went off. There was no power, no electricity, no heating, nothing. Mr Newton had to call our parents. Our parents had to come to pick us up. Even my house was leaking in the hallway and my bedroom and mums room. My cat was petrified!! I called my grandparents and my aunty. They were so worried so my grandmother came and picked us up and she said to pack clothes. Once we got to grandma’s and had hot chocolate in front of the fire, I started to tell my grandmother about my petrifying day at school. Eventually my grandfather came home so I also told him.

The Day of the School Flood.
We all ran outside to play on the bars after eating our delicious lunches. Suddenly the dark, black clouds started gathering. “Oh No Look it’s raining. Let’s go inside” So we went inside. We were playing dominoes, then I noticed the school grounds were starting to flood. Water was leaking through the doors and coming in through the roof. “Lets tell a teacher” I said. The teacher said “ I’ll go tell Mr Newton”. Mr Newton said “I’ll ring your mums and dads so you can go home”. He rang our mums and dads and told them the school has to close because there has been a flood and the electricity has been cut off. “Why do we have to go home” I asked. “I want to stay. Look everyone there’s lightning!! It looks like it will crack the ground” We knew it was unsafe for us to stay at school. Finally the parents arrived. What a terrifying day I’d had! When I got home I had a hot chocolate in front of the fire and told my mum and dad what a scary day it had been!!

Golf Lessons at School
This morning as part of P.E. our class had fun golf lessons. All the children were put into pairs to practise skills at three stations. There were different types of clubs for each activity. At the first station we had to hit the ball towards a target with the number one on it. It seemed very easy but in fact was extremely difficult. The second activity we had to lob the ball up with the club so it landed on the centre of the circle. I only managed to get it to happen once. It felt great. At the last station it was a puting type one where you had to roll the ball along the ground to the target. I hope we can do it again. Ollie

How we created our Picaso Art Works
Picasso art
On Thursday the 15 of March we made some art based on Picasso. We did a face with half of the face looking to the front and half with a view from the side. We used some black paper, some pastles and some back dye. First we split the page in thirds and drew a face with each eye looking in the opposite direction. Then we coloured half of the face in cold colours and the other half in warm colours. It took quite a long time but finally we were finished. It looked awesome I was very proud of my art. By Emma
